GUIDED LEARNING ACTIVITIES Text Editors
A text editor is a type of program used for editing plain text files. Text editors are provided with operating systems and software development packages, and can be used to change configuration files, documentation files and programming language source code. Windows computers typically come loaded with Notepad and Wordpad. Mac's are preloaded with TextEdit. In this class we will take advantage of a free, web-based text editors including Brackets, Notepad ++, and Text.
DOWNLOAD and INSTALL Brackets. Brackets is a modern text editor that makes it easy to design in the browser. It's crafted from the ground up for web designers and front-end developers.
DOWNLOAD and INSTALL Notepad ++. Notepad++ is a free source code editor and Notepad replacement that supports several languages. Running in the MS Windows environment, its use is governed by GPL License.Based on the powerful editing component Scintilla, Notepad++ is written in C++ and uses pure Win32 API and STL which ensures a higher execution speed and smaller program size. By optimizing as many routines as possible without losing user friendliness, Notepad++ is trying to reduce the world carbon dioxide emissions. When using less CPU power, the PC can throttle down and reduce power consumption, resulting in a greener environment.
DOWNLOAD and INSTALL Text. Text is a very simple and basic text editor for ChromeOS. It's fast, lets you open multiple files at once, has syntax highlighting, and saves to Google Drive on Chrome OS'.
